What is EarlyCDT–Lung?

EarlyCDT-Lung is a simple blood test that can aid in the risk assessment and early detection of lung cancer.

EarlyCDT® and Your Insurance

Oncimmune will bill your insurance provider for the test if you have Medicare Part B as your primary insurance OR if you have private health insurance coverage. At the time that your blood sample is collected, please complete the Medicare or insurance information requested on the test requisition form. For either type of coverage, please also include a legible copy (front and back) of your insurance card with the sample which is sent back to Oncimmune.

If you do not have either type of insurance coverage noted above, payment is required at the time you provide your blood sample. There is a payment envelope included in the collection kit materials provided. Oncimmune accepts credit cards, checks, or money orders. Financial assistance is available if you are covered under Medicaid or are uninsured. Out-of-pocket expenses may be eligible for reimbursement if you have an employer-provided Flexible Spending Account (FSA) OR Healthcare Spending Account (HSA). You should verify the specifics of your plan if this option is available to you.

Please contact Client Services at 1–888–583–9030 or email clientservices@oncimmune.com

Where can I go to get EarlyCDT–Lung?

EarlyCDT-Lung is a physician–ordered blood test. Please contact Client Services at 1–888–583–9030 or email clientservices@oncimmune.com to be directed to the healthcare provider nearest you offering EarlyCDT–Lung or request a free test kit that you may take to your own physician to have the test ordered.

What is the process to have the test after I have requested the EarlyCDT-Lung sample collection kit?

EarlyCDT-Lung is a physician ordered blood test. Please follow these 5 simple steps below:

  • Call your physician for an appointment.
  • Before your appointment, complete the Patient section of the Test Requisition Form (TRF) and forward the articles in the package to your physician or they can contact us directly with questions.
  • During the appointment, have your physician sign the TRF and draw a blood sample.
  • The staff will copy your insurance card (Medicare/private insurance), package the sample, completed TRF, payment envelope, and call Fed Ex for pick-up. Oncimmune will submit to the insurance company on your behalf.
  • In about a week from receipt of your sample, your results will be sent to your physician.

How is EarlyCDT–Lung different than other tests?

The goal of this test is to aid in the risk assessment and early detection of lung cancer. Presently, most lung cancer cases are detected once symptoms appear and when the disease has progressed. EarlyCDT–Lung measures a panel of autoantibodies that have been associated with the presence of cancer. When used in conjunction with diagnostic imaging, detection of these autoantibodies may aid in detecting a tumor early.

Do you take payment arrangements for the EarlyCDT-Lung, lung cancer test kit?

EarlyCDT-Lung is covered by Medicare and private insurance.  Oncimmune will offer financial assistance if you are uninsured or have Medicaid.  We will accept major credit cards, a money order, personal check or cashier's check as payment.  Please contact Client Services at 1–888–583–9030 or email clientservices@oncimmune.com for more details.

When can I expect to receive the EarlyCDT–Lung results?

You can expect the test results to be sent to your physician within a week of the Oncimmune laboratory receiving the sample from the draw station.

Am I considered at increased risk for lung cancer?

It is recommended that you speak to your physician about your medical history associated with lung cancer risk factors. You may take the Free Lung Cancer Risk Assessment to find out more information regarding cancer risk factors or to calculate the lung cancer risk for you or a loved one, or we can send you a Patient Education Brochure that will explain risk factors and testing options that you can take to your physician and discuss.

What is the difference between EarlyCDT and genetic testing?

Genetic testing can determine whether you carry a genetic mutation that indicates a predisposition to developing cancer. It helps you better understand the likelihood of developing cancer at some point in the future. A positive EarlyCDT indicates that cancer might already be present in the body; additional tests are needed to confirm whether cancer is present. EarlyCDT is designed to aid in the early detection of cancer at this moment but does not measure your likelihood of developing cancer in the future.

Are all the questions on the requisition form required to complete the test?

No. All of the information is not required; however, answering the questions honestly and completely is recommended to help us and your physician better serve you. The required fields are:

  • Physician signature
  • Collection site information including date and time of collection
  • Dates
  • Patient signature for informed consent and release
  • Insurance information, if applicable
  • Credit card information, if applicable
  • Question 5 in the Clinical History section, “Have you ever been diagnosed with any type of cancer?”

Oncimmune encourages patients to fill out all Patient Clinical Data thoroughly, as this information could aid your physician.
